My King

This message was preached the year I was born, but Truth is timeless! I cannot listen to this message without tears running down my face. I get completely overwhelmed with the fact that this King is my King! Whenever I need to put my focus back on things above, I love to go and play this clip from my hard drive. Marvel and worship the King.

Introduction

I am taking the plunge. I have avoided blogs (until now) at all costs. I have seen some people waste so much time and energy keeping up with and arguing with others on their blogs that I have pretty much ignored this media outlet with a bias. Two influences have recently changed my opinion. First, Becca (my wife) took a 365 day challenge to journal a little something from her life each day in 2010. You can check out her blog here. During this furlough, I was pleasantly shocked at how many people told her that they regularly visited her blog to read the posts and to see the pictures. People actually read these things! :) The second influence was recently talking to a couple of friends. One gets free books as a result of maintaining his blog (I like books, and I LOVE free books), and one friend was telling me that he has a God given desire to write. I told this second friend that I too love to write. I than suggested that practice makes perfect, and that he should consider commencing a blog – wait a minute, it immediately dawned on me that I was acting pretty hypocritically by suggesting someone else begin a blog while I had not started one myself. So, here we are. Post one. Lord willing, this blog will be motivated and guided by its title. “Things Above,” is a phrase taken from my life verse, Colossians 3:2. Since I often forget how to spell Colossians, I made the address COL32.bogspot. I pray that this blog will not be a waste of time for me or for you. I hope that it will include thoughts from my personal devotions, quotes from books I read (I try to read one book per week on average), and possibly even pictures and updates of the ministry and family on a semi-regular basis. Thank you for visiting and for taking the time to read my rambling thoughts. May we all follow the mandate of Paul to the church in Colosse: “Set your affections on things above, not on things on the earth.” (Col. 3:2)
